Children’s Mental Health Week
The children’s mental wellbeing charity, Place2Be, has declared this week as Children’s Mental Health Week.
As the charity points out, when we have a positive view of ourselves it can help us to cope with life’s challenges, and recognising the different qualities of others can allow us to connect with those around us. This vital for our own and others’ wellbeing.
There has rarely been a tougher time for children to grow up than the present day. They are subject to all manner or pressures, particularly through social media, the their parents didn’t have cope with.
The Huffington Post quotes research by Martin Seager, a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, and activist, who worked in the NHS for 30+ years. He believes the fundamental psychological needs every human must have to achieve maximum wellbeing are:
- To be loved
- To Belong
- To be heard
- To have meaning
- To achieve
It’s tough old world out there and our children need all the help they can get to stay grounded, confident and resilient. We believe a friend like Squarehead could be a real help, which is why we’ve created our Lessons For Life Plan*, based on our books, which is being used by schools to show children that it’s OK to be themselves.
Have a great week.
