We couldn’t let this go by without declaring our support: the Anti-Bullying Alliance has declared this week Anti-Bullying Week.  They’ve enlisted the support of popular children’s entertainer Andy and he’s recorded a special song:

Bullying is a complicated and difficult subject.  If you find you that your child is being bullied it can be heart-breaking.  But it can be equally disturbing to discover that your child is bullying others.

The NSPCC offers sound advice to parents worried about bullying and cyber-bullying:  “It can be really distressing to discover that your child is being bullied. However hard it is, try to stay calm and don’t jump to conclusions. Your child may be really worried about talking to you about the bullying, and scared that it’ll make the situation worse.” (More here)

We know that being different can often turn a child into a target.  That’s why it’s so important for children to learn to value each other’s differences from an early age.
