Chinwag the underdog.
Just so we’re clear, an underdog is a person, team, etc., that is expected to lose a contest or battle.  In this case the battle we’re fighting is how to launch a book without the resources of a major-league player like Penguin.  By resources we mean money, people, influence, mass-distribution you name it.
In fact the more you look at the enormity of the task we’re setting ourselves, the crazier it looks to even think of it.  Are we downhearted?  Not a bit of it!
One of the greatest pleasures in life is doing what people say you cannot do.  When you’re an underdog you cannot lose.  Most people have written you off already.  If you do any better than fall flat on your face, everyone will be surprised.
Everyday, as we inch towards the launch of Chinwag’s Tale, we remind ourselves of this toothy old saying: Â “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.”
We may not have money – but we do have people. Â We have friends and supporters helping us every step of the way. Â (To all those people who volunteered to help proof-read Chinwag’s Tale last week – a MASSIVE THANK YOU.) Â Through, you, our friends and supporters we have influence and the capacity to spread the word.
One of the great pleasures in setting up our own publishing company has been the discovery that it’s not just a dog-eat-dog world out there, it’s also a dog-meet-dog world. Â We’ve met hundreds of wonderful people.
In the countdown to launch day – please tell everyone you know about Squarehead and friends.  Please LIKE OUR FACEBOOK PAGE.  Please be ready to help us prove that this underdog has what it takes to become a top dog.
